Are you an experienced Civil Engineering Planner with a strong site delivery background? We’re looking for a Senior Planning Engineer to join a growing team supporting the delivery of some of the UK’s most complex civil engineering and infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for someone who combines hands-on site experience with strong planning capability — someone who understands how projects are built, can challenge methodologies, and can create realistic, deliverable programmes from tender stage through to construction.

You’ll play a key role in shaping how major projects are planned, sequenced, and delivered, working closely with engineering, commercial, operational, and bid teams to develop smarter, safer, and more efficient solutions. If you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, influencing project strategy, and using your site knowledge to improve project outcomes, this could be your next career move.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Develop detailed and deliverable construction programmes from tender stage through to project delivery
  • Review tender documentation and create robust delivery strategies, methodologies, and sequencing plans
  • Use your site experience to challenge assumptions and identify more efficient ways of delivering works
  • Provide planning expertise across logistics, construction methods, sequencing, and resource requirements
  • Support risk identification, mitigation planning, and programme improvement

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking someone who has successfully combined site delivery experience with construction planning expertise.

Essential experience:

  • Background within civil engineering, infrastructure, or major construction projects
  • Previous site-based experience delivering civil engineering works (essential)
  • Ability to demonstrate practical knowledge of construction methods, sequencing, and buildability
  • Experience developing programmes from tender through to delivery
  • HNC (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience using planning software such as Asta Powerproject or Microsoft Project (training available)

Ideal backgrounds may include:

  • Site Engineer / Agent / Sub Agent moving into planning
  • Planner with strong operational delivery experience
  • Civil Engineering Planner within infrastructure, highways, utilities, rail, or major projects

Why Join?

This is an opportunity to join a collaborative and forward-thinking business where planning directly influences project success.

  • Hybrid working to support work-life balance
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (option to buy more)
  • Company pension, Life assurance (4x salary)
  • Employee Assistance Programme and wellbeing support
  • Cycle to Work scheme, Flexible benefits platform, Free on-site parking
  • Early finish every Friday (“The Great Escape”)
  • Regular social events, charity activities, and team days

Ready to Make an Impact? Join a team where your engineering knowledge, site experience, and planning expertise will influence how major infrastructure projects are delivered. Applicants must have the right to live and work in the UK.
