We are partnering with a leading main contractor operating within the UK utility infrastructure sector to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager for its growing Gas Infrastructure business. Based in Warrington, the Contracts Manager will be responsible for overseeing a portfolio of gas transmission and distribution projects, ensuring safe, efficient and profitable delivery in line with client expectations, programme commitments and business objectives. This is an excellent opportunity for a Contracts Manager with strong operational, commercial and leadership experience to take ownership of high-value gas infrastructure works and play a key role in continued business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of a portfolio of Gas Infrastructure projects as Contracts Manager.
  • Develop and manage project programmes to ensure safe, timely and profitable delivery.
  • Oversee contract performance in line with company procedures and client requirements.
  • Manage NEC contract obligations, variations, change control and commercial risk.
  • Provide visible leadership on HSQE and promote strong safety and quality standards.
  • Carry out regular site visits to monitor progress, support teams and resolve issues.
  • Work closely with commercial teams to protect margin, manage costs and maintain financial control.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and supply chain partners.
  • Lead, develop and motivate operational teams to ensure effective delivery and high morale.
  • Support reporting, planning and continuous improvement across the Gas Infrastructure business.
  • Assist with risk and opportunity management alongside the Operations Director.
  • Support bid activity and work winning where required.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager within Gas Infrastructure, Pipeline, Utilities or Civil Engineering.
  • Strong background in gas transmission and distribution works.
  • Experience working with or for major gas clients such as National Grid, Cadent, Northern Gas Networks or SGN would be advantageous.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and contract administration.
  • Experience delivering live infrastructure projects from start to finish.
  • Good understanding of gas industry procedures, permit systems, site compliance and operational controls.
  • Commercial and programme management awareness with the ability to manage multiple workstreams.
  • Experience managing high-value projects or a portfolio of contracts.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel and lodge where required.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
