Our client, a leading civil engineering, utilities, and infrastructure company, is seeking an experienced Plant Fitter to join their operations team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance, repair, and preparation of a wide range of plant and equipment, ensuring all assets remain safe, compliant, and ready for hire or sale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service, maintain, inspect, and repair mechanical and non-mechanical plant and equipment.
  • Prepare equipment for hire and sale, ensuring orders are picked, packed, and processed accurately.
  • Complete maintenance records, service documentation, and system updates.
  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance both in the workshop and on customer sites.
  • Diagnose faults and identify equipment requiring repair, replacement, or disposal.
  • Support stock control activities, audits, and annual stock checks.
  • Maintain high standards of quality, housekeeping, and health & safety compliance.
  • Work closely with operational teams to maximise equipment availability and utilisation.

Requirements

Essential

  • CSCS card
  • NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance and Repairs or equivalent
  • Previous experience as a Plant Fitter or similar role.
  • Strong mechanical skills and fault-finding ability.
  • Computer literate with good attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Forklift licence.
  • Experience within plant hire, construction, utilities, or related sectors.
