Freelance Site Manager – Factory Extension
Location: Beeston, Nottingham
Start date: Mid-end of September
Project Duration: circa 20 weeks
Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 7am – 4:30pm
The Role
We are looking for an experienced Site Manager to lead a £500k, 20-week Factory Extension project for a major pharmaceutical client. The successful candidate will have a strong civils background, combined with proven experience managing multiple fit-out trades to deliver a high-end clinical specification finish. This is a client-facing role within a live operating factory environment, so excellent communication, professionalism and the ability to interact confidently with people at all levels are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the day-to-day delivery of the project from commencement through to completion.
- Coordinate and manage multiple civils and fit-out trades.
- Oversee civils works including drainage, slabs, services and associated works.
- Coordinate high-quality fit-out works to a clinical/pharmaceutical standard.
- Manage subcontractors, site teams and project activities to programme.
- Maintain high standards of health & safety, quality and site compliance.
- Work effectively within a live operational factory environment while maintaining excellent site etiquette and communication.
- Attend face-to-face meetings with the client and project team.
- Monitor progress, identify issues and ensure works remain on programme.
- Use a laptop confidently for project administration, reporting and communication.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with the client, workforce and wider project team.
Essential Requirements
- The successful candidate must hold:
- SMSTS
- Black Card – NVQ Level 6
- Full First Aid
- Fire Marshal (can be obtained prior to a start)
- Traffic Marshal (can be obtained prior to a start)
- In addition, candidates must have:
- Strong civils construction experience, particularly drainage, slabs and services.
- Proven experience managing multiple fit-out trades.
- Experience delivering high-end clinical, pharmaceutical or similarly high-spec environments is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and people-management skills.
- Confidence attending face-to-face client meetings.
- Good IT skills and the ability to operate a laptop for project administration.
- A professional and approachable manner suitable for working within a live manufacturing environment.
