Location: Bilsthorpe, Nottinghamshire

Shift Pattern: Sunday – Thursday, 22:00 – 06:00

Salary: Up to £48,000 per annum depending on experience (inclusive of night shift allowance).

This is not a role for someone who prefers to manage from behind a desk. We're looking for a leader who is prepared to roll their sleeves up, lead from the front, and work alongside the team to ensure every order leaves the warehouse safely, accurately, and on time.

About The Role

In this fast‑paced chilled warehouse environment the team is responsible for de‑picking frozen, chilled and ambient products, transferring them into cages, and loading them onto Class 2 delivery vehicles for our customer network serving a wide variety of different sectors including education, health care, prison services, hospitality, and military. As the Night Shift Manager you will drive performance, maintain high operational standards, and ensure the shift delivers against demanding service levels night after night.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Team & Deliver Results
    • Lead, motivate and develop a team of warehouse operatives, creating a culture of accountability, teamwork and high performance.
    • Lead from the front with a hands‑on approach, supporting the team during busy periods and operational challenges.
    • Monitor productivity, accuracy, service levels and attendance to ensure operational targets are consistently achieved.
    • Provide coaching, feedback and development to help individuals and the wider team succeed.
  • Manage the Night Shift Operation
    • Oversee all warehouse activities including de‑picking, order assembly, cage building, loading and dispatch.
    • Ensure customer orders are picked accurately and loaded on time for delivery to schools, hospitals, prisons and restaurants.
    • Plan labour and allocate resources effectively to meet changing operational demands.
    • Monitor workflow, resolve issues quickly and drive continuous improvement across the shift.
  • Champion Safety & Compliance
    • Promote a strong health and safety culture and ensure safe working practices are followed at all times.
    • Maintain compliance with company procedures, operational standards and site policies.
    • Conduct investigations, audits and corrective actions where required.
    • Produce accurate shift reports, communicate key updates and ensure effective handovers between shifts.

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in a Warehouse Team Leader, Supervisor or Shift Manager role.
  • Experience working within fast‑paced warehouse, logistics, distribution or food supply chain operations.
  • A hands‑on leadership style with a willingness to get involved and support the team when needed.
  • Strong people management and coaching skills.
  • Passion for delivering results and meeting customer deadlines.
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety within a warehouse environment.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and make effective decisions in a fast‑moving operation.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) is desirable.
  • MHE licences are advantageous but not essential.

The Ideal Candidate

You understand that successful warehouse operations depend on teamwork, commitment and strong leadership. You're comfortable working in a chilled environment, thrive in a physically demanding operation, and know how to motivate a team to deliver exceptional results night after night. Most importantly, you'll lead by example, work safely and never ask your team to do something you're not prepared to do yourself.

What's In It For You?

  • Permanent opportunity with a direct employer – we won’t hire you through a recruitment agency.
  • Career development opportunities within a global market‑leading business.
  • Opportunity to earn an additional day's holiday each year, up to the maximum of one extra week for length of service.
  • Free onsite parking.
  • Employee Assistance Programme with access to 24/7 confidential counselling and support.
  • Be part of a business that plays a vital role in feeding communities across the UK.

Benefits

  • Competitive rates of pay.

  • Recognition schemes and cycle‑to‑work scheme.
  • Preferential rates for loans and savings courtesy of a leading credit union.
  • Free 24/7 employee assistance phone line.
