The Role
- Provide strong leadership and mentorship while actively supporting and developing our existing team.
- Deputise for the Engineering Manager as required.
- Oversee contractor control, ensuring all contractors are inducted, supervised, and compliant with site safety standards, permits, and operational requirements.
- Diagnose and resolve equipment failures across mechanical and electrical systemsâincluding cranes, conveyors, refrigeration, and plant utilitiesâidentifying root causes and implementing sustainable fixes.
- Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) tasks in line with established schedules to reduce downtime and extend equipment life. Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Monitor and maintain Coldstore systems, ensuring temperature thresholds are met. Support refrigeration servicing schedules and report any deviations promptly.
- Resolve breakdowns, reduce downtime, and improve equipment reliability.
- Create SOPs, SSOWs, and training materials to support the wider team.
- Collaborate with colleagues to solve problems and keep the facility running smoothly.
- Work periodically in cold environments (approximately â18°C) with full PPE provided.
- Work at height using ladders when required.
Who Weâre Looking For
- Recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, ONC/HNC, or equivalent), with some mechanical knowledge.
- Proven handsâon maintenance experience, ideally including refrigeration and mobile racking.
- Strong faultâfinding and problemâsolving skills across electrical and mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with food safety standards, health & safety legislation, and maintenance best practices.
- Willingness to learn and continue developing your skills.
- Effective communicator with a proactive and adaptable approach.
