We’re seeking a dependable and capable HGV Class 1 Driver at our Grimsby depot. This role goes beyond driving, with responsibilities including supporting operations within our customer’s factory sites and carrying out yard shunting when required, such as during holiday cover. Due to the nature of the role, there is a strong element of manual work, so applicants should be willing to take a hands‑on approach and adapt to different tasks.
Shift Details
- Shift: 4 on 4 off Nights
- Rate of pay: £16.08 per hour, plus a shift allowance total of £95.00 paid weekly.
- Overtime after 39 hours each week are paid at time and a half (£24.12 per hour).
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure the vehicle is legal and roadworthy at all times - all daily checks are completed, and any vehicle defects are reported.
- Ensure the correct goods have been loaded and are secure before moving the vehicle.
- Carry out trunking and multi‑drop deliveries in a timely manner and in accordance with the law (including drivers working time regulations).
- Double check deliveries with the customer whilst providing a polite and helpful experience.
- Obtain relevant signatures and paperwork before returning to your home depot.
Qualifications
- C+E driving licence, a valid in‑date DigiTacho and CPC.
- Previous Class 1 driving experience.
- Ability to lift up to 18 kg.
- Clear communication in English with other team members.
