We are currently recruiting for a HGV Class 1 Driver to join our team located at our Gillingham depot.
Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off Nights
Hourly Rate: £15.57 per hour, plus £95 weekly shift allowance, paid weekly. Overtime after 39 hours worked each week is paid at time and a half.
Duties And Responsibilities:
- Support and assist the Transport Managers to ensure all functions of the operation are running smoothly and efficiently.
- Ensure the vehicle is always legal and roadworthy – all daily checks are completed in line with the ‘Daily Vehicle Check Sheet’ and the 'Guide to maintaining road worthiness'.
- To ensure any vehicle defects are reported.
- Carry out multi‑drop deliveries in a timely and safe manner.
- Complete manual and pallet pump truck work with certain drop offs.
- Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with the law.
- Drive within tachograph law and driver hour limits.
- Ensure the correct goods have been loaded and are secure before moving the vehicle.
- Check goods off with Customers and obtain signature and print.
- Be aware of the vehicle inspection rota for servicing and MOT and bring to the Transport Manager's attention if necessary.
- Ensure that your DCPC periodic training hours are maintained and completed within the five‑year period.
What are we looking for?
- At least 12 months Class 1 driving experience & Valid Class 1 license.
- Full valid Driving Licence and Digi‑Tacho holder, DQC card holder and Driver CPC.
- Good driving skills and knowledge of current Road Transport Regulations and someone who is comfortable with working night shifts.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Numerical, and focused on accuracy.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to operate tail lift and PPT when required.
