We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to provide reactive and preventative maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.
Shift Available: Rotating 06:00 – 14:00 / 14:00 – 22:00 / Weekend on call 1 in 3
Salary: Competitive
The Role
- Diagnose and resolve equipment failures across mechanical, electrical, cranes, conveyors, refrigeration and plant utilities, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable fixes.
- Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks in line with PPM programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life, ensuring all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
- Regularly inspect Coldstore systems, ensuring plant operates within temperature thresholds and report deviations promptly.
- Resolve breakdowns, reduce downtime and improve reliability of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Support the wider team in problem‑solving to keep the facility operating.
- Work in cold environments (≈ –18 °C) with full PPE; work on ladders and at height as required.
Who We’re Looking For
- Recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, ONC/HNC or equivalent). Mechanical Engineering knowledge is also beneficial.
- Proven hands‑on experience in a maintenance role, ideally with refrigeration and mobile racking.
- Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with food safety standards, health & safety legislation and maintenance best practices.
- Willingness to learn and improve your skills.
- Effective communicator in English, proactive and adaptable.
