We are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to help provide reactive and preventative maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment.
Shift Available: Monday to Friday, alternating from 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm
Salary: Competitive
The role:
- Diagnose and Resolve Equipment Failures: Quickly respond to faults across mechanical, electrical, and including cranes, conveyors, refrigeration, and plant utilities—identifying root causes and implementing sustainable fixes.
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM): Carry out scheduled maintenance tasks in line with PPM programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life. Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Monitor and Maintain Coldstore Systems: Regularly inspect and ensure the Coldstore plant is operating within temperature thresholds. Support the refrigeration servicing schedules and report any deviations or concerns to leadership promptly.
- Resolve breakdowns, reduce downtime, and improve reliability of electrical and mechanical equipment.
- Support the wider team in working together to solve problems to keep our facility moving.
You will do some of this work in a cold environment – approximately minus 18 Celsius – just like working in the freezer; but we provide full PPE to keep you warm. At times work on ladders at height.
Who we're looking for:
- A recognised qualification in Electrical Engineering (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, ONC/HNC or equivalent). Mechanical Engineering knowledge also beneficial.
- Proven hands-on experience in a maintenance role, ideally with refrigeration experience and mobile racking.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with food safety standards, health & safety legislation, and maintenance best practices.
- Willingness to learn and improve your skills.
- Effective communicator in English with a proactive and adaptable approach.
What's in it for me?
- A competitive starting pay rate.
- The opportunity to earn an additional day of annual leave each year, up to the maximum of one extra week for length of service.
- Free onsite car park.
- Social environment with a team who like to support each other to achieve goals, with recognition schemes and shared spaces to enjoy lunch and rest breaks together.
- Support your emotional well-being with access to a 24/7 employee assistance phone line offering confidential free counselling and advice.
- Preferential rates for loans and savings offered through exclusive access to a credit union.
We are an equal opportunities employer and positively encourage applications from persons regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity. Your everyday wellbeing is also important to us, so we will provide you with all the protective equipment you need to be safe and comfortable at work, and you will have access to a free 24/7 employee assistance phone line, which offers confidential counselling and advice.
