We are currently recruiting for a Transport Supervisor to join our Transport team at Hams Hall. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment, takes pride in getting things right and wants to play an active role in making transport operations run smarter, safer and more efficiently.
Shift Available: Monday - Friday 06:00-14:00/14:00-22:00 (rotating)
Salary: Salary Negotiable
The role:
- Work closely with the Transport Manager to keep our operation running safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Be a key point of contact for our drivers and help ensure we deliver the service our customers expect.
- Allocate drivers effectively, making sure the right resources are in place to deliver the operation successfully.
- Complete driver wages and holiday administration accurately and on time.
- Monitor drivers’ daily activity, including unauthorised stops, and ensure all driver paperwork is completed fully and accurately.
- Assist with agency bookings, costings and spend, ensuring agency disclaimers are completed, accurate and correctly filed.
- Monitor driver infringements, ensuring they are printed, understood, discussed and signed by drivers.
- Input and monitor driver working time and Driving Time Directive information using Excel, identifying issues and taking action where required.
- Deliver training and support to drivers using electronic driver pads, helping colleagues get the most from our technology and systems.
- Coordinate vehicle inspections and MOTs both internally and externally, ensuring vehicles remain compliant and available for operation.
- Monitor and report vehicle defects, ensuring issues are escalated and resolved promptly.
- Report RTA’s and near misses accurately and support a proactive approach to transport safety.
- Order site fuel and monitor requirements to help keep the operation running without disruption.
- Work collaboratively with your peers across the transport network, sharing ideas and best practice to improve performance and deliver an excellent service to our customers.
- Look for opportunities to improve the way we work, challenge inefficient processes and bring a positive, solutions-focused approach to the operation.
Who we're looking for:
- Someone with previous transport supervision or transport operational experience who is ready to take the next step or make their mark in a busy transport environment.
- Someone who takes pride in getting things right first time – attention to detail is essential.
- Experience managing drivers’ hours and transport legislation.
- A confident communicator who can communicate clearly and professionally with drivers, colleagues and key stakeholders in English.
- Experience with Transport Management Systems would be helpful, but a willingness to learn, use initiative and embrace new ways of working will take you far in our ambitious team.
- A target-focused individual who is comfortable working to tight deadlines, prioritising effectively and getting things done.
- A genuine team player who enjoys working collaboratively and is willing to challenge the way things are done when there’s a better solution.
- Good IT skills are essential, particularly in Excel, Word and Outlook.
- A can-do attitude, strong organisation skills and brilliant communication are essential to success in this role.
