Hours of work in this role will vary depending on training duties required. The role is predominantly day shifts, but drivers may be scheduled for various shift patterns, including days and nights.
Duties and Responsibilities
- To drive an HGV vehicle ensuring the completion of all daily driving functions, safely and accurately in compliance with the company H&S procedures and Working Procedures.
- Assist with new driver interview assessments.
- Carry out on-the-road employment and annual driver assessments.
- Carry out post-incident assessments (as required).
- Mentor new drivers on the road with vehicle, trailer, and equipment familiarization, including all current transport procedures.
- Carry out any required familiarization on new equipment (vehicles/trailers, tail-lifts, etc.).
- Ensure drivers are familiar with tachograph compliance and usage.
- Complete assessment reports for completion of assessments and onboarding or re-training.
Who we’re looking for
- Qualified HGV Class 1 driver with a valid CPC.
- Clean driving licence with an excellent tachograph infringement record.
- Excellent incident record.
- Experience of mentoring advantageous.
- Demonstrate good driving techniques.
- Regular top scorer on performance telematics.
- Able to direct and advise drivers on best practice.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety, driver compliance and documentation completion.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience of administration using basic Microsoft packages ideal.
- Effective communication of suggestions and improvements to drivers and advise Transport Management.
- Work independently without direct supervision.
- Conscientious and reliable.
Benefits and Compensation
- Rate of pay: £16.54 per hour for all hours worked up to 39 hours each week.
- Driver Mentor uplift: £30.00 per week once training for this role is complete.
- Hours over 39 per week paid at time-and-a-half.
