HEALTH & SAFETY
You as an employee are responsible for Health and Safety to protect you and the staff around you. Before commencing any work, you must assess the job/area you are working in and either report any risks or hazards to your superior to re-assess.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES:
Completion of the key functions, pick targets achieved as specified by the company such as the current set target for each specified pick area per person per day. Monitor the cleanliness of the picking area and report any spillages to the Team leaders. Provide a quality responsive service to collection customers.
COMMON RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure that all goods are stacked on good quality standard pallets, also the correct type of pallet is used to match any specific customer requirements.
- All goods should be stacked within the confines of the pallet in a fashion that they are interlocked and do not fall off the pallet in transit.
- Pick notes should be filled in correctly showing the quantity picked and the check digit for the stock.
- Follow the set out procedures when using the voice system.
- Pallets must be stacked no higher than 1.75m tall, unless the customer states they require more stock on each pallet, and be wrapped securely and labelled with the relevant customer delivery address and pick label. The pallet ID number must be recorded on the pick notes. (Voice pick will generate a pallet ID)
- Pick pallets must be labelled up and easily recognisable as not to cause confusion to any other member of staff.
- Completed orders must be parked in the marshalling area and the correct storage location recorded on voice or the pick note.
- Whilst picking you must take stock from the top and front of the pallet first and pick stock a layer at a time following correct manual handling techniques. Any damaged boxes must also be picked as long as the inner packaging is intact. Causing damages must be avoided.
- Hand pallet trucks must be signed out at the beginning of each shift and at the end of each shift must be parked neatly in a specified storage area.
- The cold store & ambient warehouses are food handling areas and must be kept tidy at all times.
- Report any damaged or faulty equipment to your team leader or shift manager.
- Report theft of any product and any open cases.
