We are currently supporting a large Hospice in London with the appointment of a senior nursing professional, who will provide confident and compassionate operational leadership to the Inpatients Unit. Guiding a skilled and dedicated team to deliver holistic, high-quality palliative care to patients and their families. We’re looking for an inspiring and forward-thinking leader who puts patients at the heart of every decision and empowers the team to do the same.

Direct management and motivation of the In-Patient Palliative Care Unit including but not limited to; recruitment, induction & onboarding, training, delegation, management of performance and attendance, participating in the recognition and appraisal processes. Providing general management across the unit 60% and working clinically 40%, supporting the development of the team through rota management, training and education, prioritising service delivery and improvement, reporting of patient progress and concerns, managing complaints and concerns, ensuring staff members complete training, working with the Learning and Development team to ensure changes are appropriately supported with education.

As a key member of the Inpatient Unit Senior Management Team, you’ll work closely with the Head of Inpatient Services and Nurse Consultant to shape a positive, high-performing culture rooted in the organisation's core values and a shared commitment to excellence.

Person Specification:

  • Current registration with the NMC as RGN, with significant post qualification experience.
  • Specialist experience within Palliative Care/Oncology, ideally holding a post registration qualification in Palliative Care.
  • Proven experience in a team leadership position in a similar setting.
