We are currently supporting a large healthcare organisation in the appointment of a Waste Management professional; this individual will be responsible for providing specialist knowledge organisational wide and ensure the delivery of development of a comprehensive waste strategy which is compliant with current related legislation. You will need to have experience and qualifications related to Waste or Environmental Management to fulfil this requirement, whilst this position is interim presently this could lead to a permanent position as they plan to actively recruit for the position in the coming months.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing a comprehensive Trust waste and resources strategy and policy with ambitious but deliverable targets.
- Applying waste hierarchy principles and covering all areas of activity.
- Working with key stakeholders both internally and externally to identify, promote and deliver projects to reduce waste at source and minimise use of resources.
- Having a good knowledge of waste management within a healthcare or similar environment.
- Developing procedures for the correct segregation, handling and disposal of all waste streams.
- Working with site-based teams, clinical staff, Facilities housekeeping and waste producers to explain and ensure correct procedures are followed.
- Investigating and promoting opportunities to reduce waste.
