On behalf of our client, we are seeking a Building Construction Project Leader to join them on an initial 12‑month contract basis. As the Building Construction Project Leader, you will be responsible for setting up and leading CAPEX projects from inception and feasibility, through to design and specification and final handover.
Role Details
- Pay: £40 per hour via Umbrella
- Contract: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week, 12 months
- Location: Newport
- IR35 Status: Inside
- SC Clearance: BPSS
Responsibilities
- Develop, update, manage and monitor a project delivery plan.
- Identify and manage risks and opportunities.
- Manage CAPEX business cases from preparation through approval to delivery and project close.
- Develop detailed design briefs for Building Services design for a range of projects, including major plant replacement and refurbishment works.
- Use IT tools and produce and present documentation, reports, technical analysis and cost reports.
- Experience with SharePoint, MS Project and G‑suite highly preferred.
- Apply industry standard design and software.
- Liaise with clients, architects and other design team members.
- Prepare reports, drawings and specifications and manage project external costs from request through approval to completion.
- Develop and maintain excellent client relationships.
- Project manage suitable projects.
- Monitor installation works on site and observe technical compliance and health & safety matters.
Essential Experience & Qualification
- Ability to lead, motivate and manage a multi‑functional project team (MFT), including external professional staff (contract managers, client CDM, QS, etc.).
- Previous experience ideally within facilities management as a senior project manager.
- Experience in capital investment project management and delivery is required.
- ONC, HNC or equivalent in a building engineering services design‑related discipline.
- Previous experience of building engineering services refurbishment in existing buildings with emphasis on delivering small to medium‑sized projects.
- Demonstrable experience of taking projects from inception and feasibility through design, specification, site monitoring and handover.
- Ability to develop client brief into construction requirements, including scopes for external professionals (architect, structural engineer, systems designers).
- Good practical understanding of mechanical and electrical plant, systems and equipment in relation to engineering design, operation and maintenance across a wide range of sectors and building types.
- Previous experience working within a consultancy environment.
- Hold relevant professional memberships (CIBSE, IMechE, IET).
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Responsible for assuring safety, security and ethical compliance in line with company requirements.
