Our client, an international aerospace and defence company has an opportunity for experienced Procurement Agent to join them on a contract basis. This role will assist the supplier management team within their major subcontracts team.

Location: Gosport, Hampshire

Hours: Mon-Fri (3 Days a week in the Gosport Office)

IR35 Status: Inside

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain BPSS security clearance

Hourly Rate: Negotiable

Contract: 12 months, renewable

Due to the nature of this role, you will need to be able to demonstrate UK right to work with a minimum of 3 years work experience in the UK.

Position Responsibilities:

  • This is an individual contributor position in a growing global organisation.
  • The individual will be responsible for the management of our client's sub-contract for the maintenance and support of the UK MoD's fleet of Chinook Aircraft.
  • Physical presence at least three days a week in the Gosport office is essential for the successful management of the contract.
  • The successful individual will work with the local subcontractor to ensure that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are being met and risk is being mitigated.
  • A proven ability to work in large, diverse and cross-functional teams is essential, alongside an ability to shape and influence outcomes.
  • Strong critical thinking and leadership abilities are also key in order to successfully overcome the day-to-day challenges experienced with managing such a large and multi-faceted contract.

As a member of the Procurement team, the responsibilities include:

  • Ensure that the sub-contractor's performance and contractual/procurement strategies align to the needs of both the Vertical Lift Programme and the wider business.
  • Communicate performance expectations and metrics to evaluate and monitor supplier performance.
  • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
  • Lead complex negotiations and resolve supplier issues.
  • Drive cost savings, value creation, and risk mitigation.
  • Foster strong supplier partnerships and innovation.
  • Initiate supplier and other improvement activities/opportunities and provide results for integration into contracting strategies.
  • Define requirements that align and reflect the needs of the Vertical Lift programme.
  • Execute negotiated contractual documents and binding agreements.
  • Manage supplier/subcontractor performance and relationship to ensure delivery, quality, financial stability and in-service performance.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • The successful candidate will need to be adaptable and a creative problem solver with the ability to liaise and work alongside a number of functional subject areas to help develop and form the strategic supply chain approach to support the Programme.
  • High attention to detail and consistent track record to lead multiple, contending priorities simultaneously.
  • Ideally 10 or more years of relevant experience, particularly experience working in the Defence industry and working with UK MoD regulation and contractual flow downs.
  • Strong commercial acumen - ability to draft contractual language and negotiate and interpret contract Terms & Conditions.
  • Strong supplier and stakeholders' relationship management skills.
  • Understanding of the Chinook platform.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP/ERP knowledge.
  • Adaptability & global mind set.
  • Strong and effective communication.
  • Customer focus.
  • Ability to travel between sites if required.

To be successful in your application it is a requirement that you hold UK 'right to work' at the time of application and that you can achieve a BPSS security clearance at a minimum. Only candidates based in UK and eligible to work in UK are allowed.
