On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit several F&DT Repair Engineers for 10 months. As the F&DT Repair Engineer you will be responsible for completing Fatigue & Damage Tolerance analysis and justifications for metallic and composite structures.
Location: Filton
Contract: Monday - Friday, 35 Hours per week, 10 months contract
IR35 Status: Inside
Security Clearance: BPSS
Responsibilities:
- Performing F&DT analysis and compiling justification reports for repair designs using approved methods and tools, working closely with skilled Design and Static Stress engineers to develop optimum repairs.
- Providing technical guidance and support to the internal teams, including the offshore teams, and any suppliers as required.
- Leading packages of work, and integrating with Design and Static Stress teams for a major incident or complex activities.
- Developing methods and processes for repair analysis, working with method experts and tool owners to enhance the analysis capability of the repair teams.
- Working with the NDT specialist, developing inspection processes for repaired aircraft.
- Providing support to the repair team on other structure perimeters such as Fuselage, Empennage, High-Lift devices, etc.
Essential & Desirable Skills:
- Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent) and relevant engineering experience.
- An aerospace F&DT engineering background.
- Experience of F&DT analysis of aircraft structures using a range of processes, methods, and toolsets (ISAMI, GISEH) and experience generating Technical Dossiers/Reports.
- An understanding of the fundamental methods of fatigue and damage tolerance analysis and an ability to develop these methods.
- Understanding of the airworthiness regulations.
- An understanding and ability to decide, with a good rationale, on how the repair design affects the F&DT of aircraft structure.
- An ability to choose and apply appropriate analysis methods to the repair design.
- Ability to liaise/negotiate with Design, Customer Services and suppliers.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
- The ability to translate customer requirements into operational deliverables.
- The capability to work under pressure and ensure the delivery is technically correct, on time and on quality within the tight time constraints.
- Be pragmatic, able to solve the problem and ability to make decisions based on a good engineering rationale.
