Our client has an opportunity for a Buyer to join them on a contract basis until the end of 2025 with possibility for extension. You will be responsible for the management of strategic aluminium suppliers and delivering Multiple Function Team projects on time, cost and quality.
Role: Buyer
Location: Filton - fully onsite to start, with 60% onsite after the first couple of months
Hours: 35 per week
Hourly Rate: £38.74 per hour via an umbrella company, inside IR35
Clearance: BPSS required before starting
What you’ll be doing:
- Responsible for management of strategic Aluminium (Extrusions) suppliers.
- Accountable and responsible to deliver MFT projects on Time, Cost and Quality either defined under his/her leadership in the MFT or by delegation from the MFT leader (PMMA).
- Accountable for ensuring end-to-End management of the Aluminium ConBid Process.
- Manage projects in the framework of the MFT (project planning, reporting to CSG leader Manager, financial adherence).
- Support and contribute to deployment of the commodity strategy (market intelligence, etc.).
- Contribute to company cost improvement programs by identifying opportunities, establishing roadmap, coordinating activities, negotiating commercial agreement.
- Supervise & support Transfer of Work (ToW) activities for the market / suppliers.
- In the frame of MFT, manages risk related to suppliers and define appropriate mitigation action.
- Responsible for developing & maintaining key supplier and internal stakeholder relations.
- Lead Call for Tenders to ensure business needs, propose supplier selection and coordinate selection report.
- Lead MFT during supplier selection process through Call for tenders processes managed in MFT.
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions; ensure contract change management, supported by contract manager.
- Responsible for supplier contractual review meetings.
- Support and contribute to supplier development initiatives corresponding to the actual and future supplier performance.
- Support and contribute to definition of development targets (for example cost reduction measures, Quality and delivery performance targets).
- Perform/participate to regular supplier reviews/assessments.
- Accountable for consistency between contract terms & conditions, and the information system (SAP).
Requirements:
- Buyer or Supply Chain experience within manufacturing, aviation or automation.
- Technical knowledge of supply, material, aluminium and metals.
- Understanding of the specifications.
- Experience working with international suppliers.
- SAP experience.
- Comfortable in complex environments with stakeholders.
- Contract management experience.
