Our mission is to power biology's century with radically faster, more reliable clinical trials. Every new treatment needs clinical trials to prove safety and efficacy, but today's infrastructure is outdated—driving up costs, causing delays, and ultimately meaning new treatments don’t reach patients. We're fundamentally changing that—transforming how people think about developing new treatments, so patients can access breakthrough treatments faster. Since March 2021, we've powered over 100 clinical trials involving tens of thousands of patients. We recently raised a $55M Series B from Balderton Capital, alongside backing from Creandum, Firstminute, Seedcamp, and Visionaries.

About the Role: We’re looking for an exceptional VP of Clinical Operations to lead our UK & EU Clinical Operations team. You will be the most senior member of our UK & EU ClinOps team and responsible for our portfolio of trials as well as scaling our UK & EU operations. This role will also involve using AI tools to reshape and improve clinical operations, trial oversight, and trial delivery. This includes inputting on the roadmap and features of our proprietary trial technology platform, Citrus. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of experience across various therapeutic areas and phases—a proportionate approach to trial design and experience growing and leading a large team is essential. You’ll work closely with our US VP of Clinical Operations and our COO who oversees clinical trial delivery. The role will be based in the UK or the EU, with travel to the UK approximately once a month if based in the EU.

About You:

  • You have 12+ years of experience working in clinical trials and implementing clinical research projects.
  • You have experience beyond working solely in a large CRO.
  • You have worked on a wide variety of different trials during your career, with some experience of non-drug or phase 4 trials preferable.
  • You have experience overseeing and running clinical trials in both the UK and European countries.
  • You have a deep understanding of MHRA/EMA trial regulations and requirements and keep up to date with changing regulations.
  • Experience of implementing trials outside of the UK & EU would also be desirable.
  • You have grown high-performing teams before, with responsibility for processes, hiring, and training.
  • You have worked with innovative trial technology and are excited about directly innovating in the space.
  • You regularly use and oversee others using AI tools and workflows.
  • You have high agency and a bias for action.
  • You are passionate and curious about our mission; changing how the healthcare industry operates and how new health treatments are developed.
  • You want to learn what life is like at a high-growth, mission-driven VC funded startup.

What You’ll Focus On:

  • Clinical Operations Project Leadership and Delivery: Oversee the UK & EU Clinical Operations team, ensuring that trials are delivered successfully (on time, on budget, in compliance, and of high quality). Create and maintain optimal working practices, SOPs, systems, and tools, to ensure robust Study Management execution and stakeholder communications. Work with Clinical Operations leadership to proactively and creatively solve issues that arise.
  • Reporting and Communication: Direct the activities of assigned Project Support staff and mentor other project management team members and clinical staff; facilitate team building and communication. Implement resource strategies to achieve project goals. Develop contingency planning and risk mitigation strategies to ensure successful delivery of project goals.
  • Hiring and Training: Lead hiring and expansion of the UK & EU ClinOps team, including trial & project managers, quality and regulatory teams. Develop and deliver team training reflective of current best practice.
  • Organisational Leadership: Ensure seamless integration of our US Clinical Operations team, working closely with other ClinOps leaders across both countries. Support business development work with Sponsors and vendors where necessary. Play a pivotal role in the seamless handover/set-up of projects from Business Development to ClinOps.
  • Reshaping Clinical Trials Using Technology: Work closely with the tech and product teams to help design best-in-class trial technology that exceeds customer demands. Design, test, and implement AI-driven workflows that reduce effort and improve quality of clinical operations tasks.

What we offer: We believe in rewarding the people who are building the future of clinical research.

  • Financial & Growth: Competitive salary plus meaningful equity - you’ll own a piece of what we’re building. £1,000 annual Learning & Development budget for courses, certifications, and conferences. 39 days annual leave (30 days PTO + 8 bank holidays + 1 James Lind Day).
  • Health & Wellbeing: £60 monthly wellness allowance with flexibility on how to spend this, including opting in to a company private health insurance or wellhub membership. Access to gym and retail discounts through Happl.
  • Culture & Connection: Monthly lunch vouchers for remote team members. Regular company events and team gatherings (both virtual and in-person). Charity partnerships and volunteering opportunities with Forward Trust. Work with a team that's genuinely changing healthcare for the better.
