Established in 1956, Lindum Group is East Midlands' most successful construction company. Employing over 635 staff across our sites in Peterborough, York and Lincoln, we work with a diverse client base offering new build, maintenance and refurbishment services.
We are currently seeking an Assistant Estimator to join our Minor Works Department in Peterborough. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to manage and deliver competitive, accurate tender submissions for projects valued up to £400k.
Based out of our Peterborough Business Park, our Peterborough division undertakes a variety of new build and refurbishment projects in the region with a variety of clients in a range of sectors, including affordable housing, food, retail, education, commercial, industrial and health.
Responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing Traditional and Design & Build tenders.
- Appraising tender documents, preparing sub-contract and material enquiries.
- Producing detailed and measured bills of quantities.
- Undertaking site surveys and developing scope of works.
- Risk and value management.
- Preparation of budgets estimates and cost plans.
- Delivering internal tender adjudications and external client presentations.
- Engaging with clients and end users to build longstanding relationships.
What we're looking for:
- Candidates must have a building background with knowledge of all aspects of refurbishment and new build construction across numerous sectors.
- Have an understanding of current CDM 2015 Health and Safety requirements.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
- A high education qualification (HNC, Diploma, Degree) in a construction-related subject would be an advantage but not essential.
- Experience of procuring small and large subcontract packages would be advantageous.
- To have experience of managing a range of contracts at any one time.
- We are seeking a candidate with strong commercial skills, the ability to drive projects forward and work with multi-disciplinary project delivery teams to overcome challenges and to successfully deliver projects.
- Candidate must be able to work with clients to come up with solutions and ideas to their brief.
- Be comfortable with reading technical drawings.
- Hold a full driving licence.
The successful candidate must have high attention to detail, provide an innovative and proactive approach to problem solving whilst being able to plan effectively to ensure deadlines are met.
What We Can Offer:
The role is a full-time (0800 – 1700) Monday to Friday office-based role. Salary will be commensurate with experience, skill level and qualifications.
