The Head of PMO is accountable for the effective planning, prioritisation, and delivery of a complex portfolio of transformation and value-driving initiatives across the UK&I market. The role exists to bring structure, clarity, and pace to a high-change environment where multiple programmes and projects compete for the same resources and leadership attention. The Head of PMO will ensure that the right work is prioritised, dependencies are actively managed, and delivery risks are surfaced and addressed early. The role requires a credible leader with strong people management capability, excellent stakeholder influence, and the confidence to challenge constructively to protect outcomes and value.
This role is based in our Head Office in Richmond Upon Thames with hybrid working (in the office 60% and WFH 40%).
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end governance of the transformation and project portfolio
- Ensure clear prioritisation aligned to strategic objectives and capacity constraints
- Provide transparency on trade-offs, sequencing, and resource demand
- Oversee delivery of multiple, concurrent programmes and projects with conflicting priorities
- Ensure robust plans, milestones, dependencies, and risk management are in place
- Intervene decisively where delivery is at risk
Stakeholder Management & Influence
- Work closely with senior leaders to align expectations, manage dependencies, and resolve conflicts
- Influence without authority, taking stakeholders with you through change
- Provide clear, confident communication on progress, risks, and decisions
PMO Standards & Ways of Working
- Define and embed PMO standards, tools, and methodologies appropriate to the organisation
- Balance governance discipline with pragmatic delivery focus
- Ensure consistent reporting and decision-making forums
Benefits & Value Realisation, Financial / Budget Management
- Ensure initiatives are clearly linked to measurable outcomes and benefits
- Track delivery of value and elevate where benefits are at risk
- Partner with Finance to ensure credibility of business cases and outcomes
- Work with project managers and finance to manage the overall financial impact of projects
- Coordinate robust Post Implementation Reviews to ensure projects meet defined objectives
Resource & Capacity Management
- Actively manage resource demand across programmes and projects
- Surface capacity constraints early and support prioritisation decisions
- Enable effective utilisation of key skills and expertise
- Lead and develop the PMO team, building strong delivery capability and confidence
- Act as a role model people leader with clear expectations and accountability
- Build credibility and trust across the organisation
Qualifications, Knowledge And Experience Preferred
- Proven experience leading a PMO or large transformation portfolio in a complex organisation
- Strong people management experience with a track record of developing teams
- Demonstrated success delivering multiple, high-impact initiatives under pressure
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills at senior level
- Commercially minded with a strong focus on value delivery and outcomes
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity, conflict, and change
- High credibility as a leader who can challenge constructively and build alignment
How You Will Be Rewarded Financially
For the position of Head of PMO the salary range is £95,000 - £115,000. You will receive a benefits package including; bonus, pension, life cover, chocolate allowance; chocolate give-aways, chocolate discount, birthday day off and so much more!
