We are looking for an experienced Healthcare Assistant to join our friendly practice. The role is rewarding and varied, it will suit someone who is enthusiastic, motivated and a good team player. You will have experience and confidence in managing patients face to face and have good organisational and communication skills. Our ideal candidate will hold a NVQ level 3/QCF level 3 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support or equivalent and have experience of working in Primary Care/Secondary Care or the Community. This HCA role within the Practice is developing and therefore a willingness to learn and a flexible approach is essential.

Job Responsibilities

  • New patient health checks
  • ECG recording – routine
  • Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
  • Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
  • Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
  • Surgical equipment and vaccine re‑stocking and stock rotation
  • Clearing and re‑stocking consulting rooms
  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients’ health and well‑being
  • Undertaking specific clinical activities for named patients that have been delegated and taught specifically in relation to that individual
  • Helping to raise awareness of health and well‑being and how it can be promoted
  • Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and well‑being
  • Phlebotomy
  • 24‑hour blood pressure monitoring

Qualifications

  • Qualified to NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care
  • Experience of working within a nursing team
  • Qualified in Phlebotomy
  • Experience working within General Practice
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check
