What you will enjoy doing
- In this hybrid role you will be responsible for leading all aspects of trade compliance ensuring appropriate controls are in place to meet UK and US regulation
- Ensure a robust control framework is in place for managing imports and exports and in particular where special customs procedures are used
- Oversee all import/ export customs entries providing clearance instructions to forwarders and maintain records
- Obtain export licences where required, maintain records of use and report to HMRC
- Communicate with HMRC and ECJU, whilst managing queries and taking responsibility for customs audits and reviews
- Maintain control procedures to prevent violations of US regulations (ITAR/EAR) including technology regulations
- Continually monitor and improve systems and processes used throughout the business to ensure robust compliance procedures are maintained
- Defining strategy to ensure regulatory alignment will be part of your role
What makes you great
- You have demonstrable background in customs compliance including corporate experience
- A degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or a related field is preferred but not mandatory
- Previous experience in a senior customs role
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across all levels of the business
- Understanding of UK customs special procedures and impact on tax and duty
- Excellent knowledge and awareness of US compliance regulations
- Strong understanding of export licences
- You have solid excel skills
