What you will enjoy doing

  • As a Vehicle Maintenance Technician, you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing the mechanical and cryogenic systems used across our PGP, Cryospeed, and Bulk vehicle and trailer fleet. You will help ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of our transport activities through high-quality maintenance, accurate record keeping, and compliance with company procedures.
  • Working as part of a supportive and inclusive team, you will carry out planned and defect maintenance activities to the highest standards, ensuring compliance with Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency requirements, Health and Safety Executive legislation, and Goods Vehicle Operator Licence obligations. A strong understanding of the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency Goods Vehicle Inspection Manual and Categorisation of Defects Manual will enable you to perform your role effectively and safely.
  • You will ensure scheduled safety inspections, servicing, and defect repairs are completed to the highest quality standards, with all work accurately recorded within the DAFcheck system and vehicles signed off as roadworthy and safe before returning to operation
  • You will provide flexible support across the workshop team to help maintain service continuity during periods of annual leave and absence, in line with the relevant working arrangements
  • Coordinate with approved BOC contractors for specialist services such as tyre replacement, windscreen repairs, auto electrical work, and major vehicle repairs when required
  • You will uphold health, safety, environmental, and compliance standards, ensuring all activities are carried out in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate professionalism, dependable timekeeping, and a collaborative approach that contributes positively to team performance and customer service
  • You will maintain your technical knowledge through ongoing training and development, ensuring compliance with company processes and industry requirements
  • In this role, you will take responsibility for effective communication with drivers, colleagues, and external partners, ensuring operational requests are supported in a timely and professional manner
  • Additionally, you will contribute to an inclusive working environment where colleagues are treated with respect, different perspectives are valued, and everyone has the opportunity to contribute and succeed

What makes you great

  • Time-served HGV Technician with NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Proven experience in fleet maintenance with the ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively as part of a small team.
  • Skilled in scheduled servicing, safety inspections, diagnostics, and defect rectification of ADR vehicles and trailers.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills and capability to plan and manage allocated workload efficiently.
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Windows, Outlook, SAP, and diagnostic platforms such as DAFcheck & Truckcheck.
  • Practical knowledge of using diagnostic equipment for fault identification and repair.
  • Work with integrity, role modelling the behaviours aligned to being an inclusive workplace
