Service Controller – Linde Material Handling

Join the Service Controller role at Linde Material Handling based in West Bromwich. As a market leader and innovator, we’re expanding and looking for an enthusiastic team player to join the Area Controller team.

Every day is different: managing breakdowns, services, customer queries and quotations and organising engineers to ensure we deliver commitments to our customers. This fast‑paced job requires someone who enjoys juggling multiple tasks and can react to unexpected challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Optimise communication and operational links between the engineer service field team and service control.
  • Create and chase down quotes to customers to ensure all quoted works are approved and actioned correctly.
  • Manage all reactive, planned and outstanding engineer tasks.
  • Effectively communicate all trucks out of service to keep customers updated on progress.
  • Answer and deal with incoming telephone calls and enquiries.
  • Conduct each transaction with external and internal customers professionally, maximising customer satisfaction and encouraging repeat business, revenue growth and profit for the business.
  • Undertake this role in compliance with Health and Safety requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as required, commensurate with the salary.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communicator with first‑class customer handling skills.
  • Experience working in a fast‑paced customer service environment.
  • Confident and pleasant telephone manner.
  • Strong decision‑making and prioritisation skills.
  • Committed and self‑driven.
  • Team player with a flexible approach to workload.
  • Well developed IT skills, particularly Excel; knowledge of SAP advantageous.
  • Ability to work under pressure and achieve deadlines and targets.
  • Exceptional organisational skills.
