As the Technical Lead for the Frontend Engineering Team, you’ll drive the development and evolution of our frontend platforms across web and mobile. You’ll set the technical vision, lead a squad of passionate engineers, and collaborate closely with product, design, and backend teams to deliver flawless user experiences at scale. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll write code, mentor devs, and shape the architecture that powers a high-performance, high-availability product used by thousands daily. This role is hybrid from one of our office locations: St Albans, New Castle (UK), Malta or Gibraltar.
What You Will Do
- Lead and mentor a team of frontend engineers, ensuring high standards in code quality, performance, and UX.
- Own the technical roadmap and architecture for frontend systems – from strategy to delivery.
- Champion modern frontend best practices (e.g. CI/CD, testing, accessibility, performance optimization).
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Backend Engineers to define and deliver features end-to-end.
- Write scalable, maintainable, and well-documented code – expect to be 50% hands-on.
- Guide the team through technical decisions, code reviews, and system design discussions.
- Continuously evaluate and introduce new tools and technologies that improve developer experience and product quality.
What We’re Looking For
- 6+ years of experience in frontend development with deep expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern frameworks like React or Vue.
- Proven experience leading engineering teams – you know how to motivate, coach, and unblock.
- Strong understanding of application architecture, state management, and performance tuning.
- Comfortable working in an agile environment and shipping iteratively.
- Experience working with design systems, component libraries, and responsive design.
- A product-focused mindset – you care about how users interact with your work.
- Excellent communication skills – you’re able to clearly explain technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders.
