Position Overview:
We are currently seeking a highly skilled Service Engineer to join our team. As a Smoke Damper Control Engineer, you will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, testing, commissioning, and repair of smoke damper control systems within HVAC and fire safety systems. Your role will be critical in ensuring that smoke dampers function properly during emergencies, providing safety and reliability for building occupants and assets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform regular inspections, testing, commissioning, and servicing of smoke damper control systems, ensuring compliance with fire safety standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve faults with smoke damper control panels, actuators, and associated electrical components.
- Carry out calibrations and adjustments of smoke damper control systems to ensure proper operation during fire emergencies.
- Commission and service smoke damper control systems as part of new HVAC and fire safety installations.
- Maintain and repair smoke damper control circuits and wiring, ensuring safe and reliable operations.
- Diagnose, repair, and replace components of smoke damper control systems, including sensors, actuators, and control panels.
- Provide detailed reports and documentation, including test results, maintenance records, and recommendations for upgrades.
- Work closely with clients to understand their needs and provide technical guidance on system operation and maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes and safety regulations (e.g., NFPA, BS EN9999, local fire safety standards).
- Collaborate with colleagues and external contractors to ensure smooth coordination of service work and system upgrades.
- Stay current with industry standards and advancements in smoke damper control technology.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience working with smoke damper control systems or similar fire safety/HVAC systems.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with control panels, actuators, and electrical components.
- Knowledge of relevant fire safety standards and regulations (e.g., NFPA, BS EN9999).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Strong communication and client-facing skills.
- Full UK driving license (due to travel across locations).
Desirable:
- Qualifications in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Experience in commissioning, servicing, and maintaining smoke damper control systems.
- Familiarity with building management systems (BMS) or similar technologies.
