About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Abnormal Loads & Support Administrator to join a small, dynamic team providing essential operational and administrative support across a varied portfolio of functions. This role plays a key part in ensuring the smooth running of critical processes, including Abnormal Loads coordination, support to the Joint Independent Audit Committee, and the Vehicle Recovery Scheme, while also providing wider support to senior leaders within the department.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • You’ll manage the force’s Abnormal Loads process, reviewing notifications, assessing routes, coordinating police escorts, and liaising with hauliers, local authorities, and partner agencies.
  • You’ll support the Joint Independent Audit Committee by coordinating audits, tracking actions, and producing progress reports.
  • You’ll act as a professional first point of contact, responding to queries by phone and email, maintaining stock and equipment, and processing purchase requisitions and goods receipting.
  • You’ll provide administrative support across the department, including deputising for the Vehicle Recovery Scheme Officer, supporting procurement activity, preparing meeting papers, and helping to deliver clear departmental communications.
