What could a typical week look like as our Sustainability Manager?
Working at LHP offers variety, challenge and the chance to make a real difference - but it’s not always easy, you’ll have a fantastic team around you as support and to celebrate your team success. A typical week could look like:
- Supporting the Executive Director of Property and the wider LHP Leadership Team and Board, taking an active and leading role in developing, understanding, implementing, and reviewing the LHP ESG Strategy.
- Leading on key aspects of the strategy as agreed.
- Monitoring and reporting on emerging regional and national strategy and policy in relation to Climate Change and Sustainability, flagging issues relevant to LHP and incorporating into strategy development.
- Preparing reports and presentations as appropriate and needed in support of this role.
- Supporting, influencing, and guiding as agreed LHP's Net Zero Roadmap, carbon reduction customer engagement and biodiversity programmes, in line with the ESG Strategy action plan and strategic objectives.
- This role will also be responsible for producing LHP's annual Sustainability Reporting Standards (SRS) reports, ensuring our ESG progress is transparent and aligned to the wider sector.
- Leading the work across the organisation to regularly assess LHP's carbon footprint, including procuring and managing specialist software and support consultancy, routine monitoring, and reporting, all with the aim of achieving year on year reductions.
- Providing advice to the Asset Management and Development functions in the procurement of contracts to ensure that ESG considerations are embedded within project delivery and specifications, to work toward achievement of net zero targets.
- Developing, maintaining and highlighting funding availability relating to Asset Management and Development functions to maximise funding opportunities for carbon saving measures.
- Working with colleagues across LHP to conceive, develop, design and deploy a range of interventions and activities with the aim of engaging customers in the Climate Change and Sustainability agenda.
- Working with the Customer Directorate to provide customer engagement specifically linked to the Climate Change and Sustainability agenda.
- Forging partnerships with external community and related organisations where this supports customer engagement, including customer training.
What Skills, Abilities, Knowledge and Experience will I need as a Sustainability Manager?
- Graduate or equivalent level qualification.
- Achieved (or studying towards) a recognised qualification in relation to environmental studies, sustainability, climate change or related disciplines.
- Substantial experience and enthusiasm for articulating environmental issues through a variety of media and channels.
- Significant experience in devising, developing and implementing policies and plans related to sustainability, environmental and/or climate change issues.
- Demonstrable experience of developing and sustaining partnerships and collaborative working at different levels within and between organisations.
- Demonstrable experience in project management and administration.
