We’re currently looking for Multi-Skilled Joiners to join our Empty Homes team in Grimsby. As a key member of our Voids Team, you will play a vital role in bringing empty properties back to life. You will carry out a range of minor repairs and maintenance tasks, helping us prepare homes for new customers quickly and efficiently.
We’re looking for someone with multi-trade experience who can tackle a variety of jobs in a single visit—saving time and improving the service we deliver. Whether it’s patching plaster, fixing fittings, or making sure everything’s safe and ready to go, your work will make a real difference.

What will a typical week look like?
Working at LHP offers variety, challenge and the chance to make a real difference - but it’s not always easy, you’ll have a fantastic team around you as support and to celebrate your team success.
A typical week as a Multi-skilled Joiner:
- Start your week by checking and topping up your van stock—making sure you’ve got the right tools and materials to get the job done without unnecessary trips to suppliers.
- In empty properties, you’ll carry out improvement works to get homes ready for new tenants—bringing your joinery skills to kitchens, doors, and fittings, and supporting with plumbing or groundwork as required.
- You’ll take on a variety of joinery tasks, from repairing doors and fitting kitchen units to resealing windows and making homes safe and secure. While your core trade is joinery, you’ll also support with minor plumbing jobs—like replacing taps, fixing leaks, or installing sinks and bathroom fittings.
- Your day-to-day will be around our empty homes, however you may be asked to attend scheduled appointments in our customers' homes, working alongside other trades to complete repairs efficiently. Whether it’s a loose door, damaged skirting, or a patch of plaster that needs attention, you’ll be ready to tackle it.
- You’ll work cleanly and respectfully—using PPE, dust sheets, and overshoes to protect the property and show care for the customer’s home.
- Communication is key—you’ll keep planners and team leaders updated through our housing system, making sure records are accurate and tenants are kept informed.
- You’ll carry out on-the-spot risk assessments and report any safety concerns immediately. You’ll also keep an eye out for issues like damp, mould, tenancy fraud, or safeguarding concerns.
- Your role may also include supporting wider estate maintenance—helping with brickwork, external repairs, or groundwork when needed.
- You’ll also be part of the emergency rota—responding to urgent repairs out-of-hours to help keep homes safe and secure.
What Skills and Experience will I need as a Multi-skilled Joiner?
- Strong experience in Joinery is essential
- Experience in other trades, i.e plumbing, plastering, flooring, tiling is highly desirable
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the repairs of domestic properties
- An awareness of health and safety considerations within a domestic property (i.e. Asbestos, working around customers, working at heights & electrics)
- The ability to use PDA/iPad and other electronic communication devices
- The ability to interpret a job type from a handheld device and carry out those tasks in a timely manner
- The ability to communicate on regular basis with team leaders and planners to ensure work is carried out and completed to the highest possible standard
- Must have a full valid, clean driving license
