Governance & Regulation Business Partner – Make a real difference in our Lincolnshire Communities

Location: Lincolnshire | Contract: Permanent | Salary: ÂŁ34,193

We’re seeking a Governance & Regulation Business Partner to deliver effective governance and compliance across LHP.

Reporting to the Corporate Head of Governance & Regulation, you’ll provide expert advice and coordination to ensure strong governance, robust compliance oversight, and a culture where colleagues understand and own their responsibilities.

What would be a typical week as a Governance & Regulation Business Partner?

As a Governance & Regulation Business Partner you’ll be at the heart of the operation of LHP’s Board and Committees, ensuring high‑quality governance. As you may imagine, this isn’t always easy, and requires empathy, strong effective communication skills and bags of resilience. A typical week could look as follows:

  1. Prepare and review Board and Committee papers for upcoming meetings, ensuring quality and timely dispatch.
  2. Check governance mailboxes, triage queries, and elevate issues where needed.
  3. Meet with senior stakeholders to align governance reporting with strategic priorities.
  4. Support the wider Governance team with statutory returns and regulatory reporting.
  5. Draft governance reports and presentations for Board and Committees.
  6. Conduct horizon scanning for regulatory and legal updates; prepare a briefing for leadership.
  7. Facilitate a Board or Committee meeting: manage logistics, take accurate minutes, and track actions.
  8. Lead improvements to governance templates and processes.
  9. Deliver advice and guidance to colleagues on governance and compliance matters.
  10. Develop and share communication plans to raise awareness of internal governance policies or external regulatory changes.
  11. Coordinate with colleagues to strengthen customer participation opportunities in governance.
  12. Plan and progress the Board and Committee Learning & Development programme, including onboarding new Non‑Executive Directors.
  13. Contribute to governance improvement projects, including policy reviews and framework updates.

  • Good understanding of Microsoft Office 365
  • Customer focused with good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to work on own initiative.
  • Strong ethical standards and integrity.
  • Strong ability to innovate, engage, inspire and improve to drive continuous improvements.
  • Ability to work with a diverse range of contacts and conduct work of a confidential nature.
  • Numerical skills and the ability to maintain and understand financial records.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, evaluate options and develop practical solutions.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, including staying informed about emerging trends, best practices and evolving requirements.

It would be even better if you had:

  • Proven ability to influence, build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Board, leadership, colleagues and customers.
  • Good understanding of governance and regulatory principles and the statutory, legal and sector‑specific requirements affecting registered social landlords.
  • Experience with taking high‑quality minutes and writing Board‑level reports.
