Scartho Gateway Academy opened in September 2025. Currently, there are 110 children on roll; there will be approximately 140 in September 2026 and we will eventually provide for up to 210 pupils, from Reception to Year 6. The academy also includes a Resource Specialist Provision (RSP), catering for up to 12 children from across North East Lincolnshire who have identified Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team at Scartho Gateway Academy. The role is for a teaching assistant in the RSP. Teaching assistants will work closely with the class teacher, alongside the SENDCO, collaborating with staff across the Academy to ensure a broad and balanced curriculum is provided for our children, including those accessing the RSP.
We are looking for an experienced teaching assistant who demonstrates a strong desire to ensure all children are able to develop their skills and confidence, using adaptive, personalised teaching strategies. The successful candidate will hold ambitious expectations for all students, including those with additional and special educational needs and disabilities and embed a culture where all can access the curriculum and learn effectively.
Scartho Gateway Academy is working closely with Trauma Informed Schools UK to support the development of our vision, values and curriculum. It is essential that the successful candidate champions our principles of trauma awareness and relational learning, building strong, trusting relationships with our children to create a safe learning environment. An ability to be creative and adaptable is crucial. Experience of working with children across key stages is desirable. A commitment to ensuring the new academies are fully inclusive schools is essential.
Our ethos is one of an uncompromising drive to achieve the highest standards of outcomes and behaviour in a safe environment, which encourages every student to experience an exciting and creative climate for learning. We place a strong emphasis upon pastoral care and teaching assistants will share the determination to offer the very best to our students so that they can thrive personally and academically.
The position has become available due to increasing numbers and the creation of a new class. Therefore, the successful candidate can start as soon as they are available. A full package of ongoing CPD is in place to support our staff team as part of the whole school relational approach. This will include regular supervision.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. As part of this process, all successful applicants are required to apply for an enhanced DBS disclosure. Other checks including social media will be carried out in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education legislation.
