Scartho Gateway Academy is seeking an exceptional individual to join our teaching team as a KS2 teacher. The academy will provide for up to 210 mainstream pupils, from Reception to Year 6, and will include a Resource Specialist Provision (RSP) for children with identified Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
The successful candidate will be an experienced classroom teacher or someone relatively new to the profession, who will be dynamic, creative and inspirational, ensuring all children receive an outstanding education. They will hold ambitious expectations for all students, including those with additional and special educational needs and disabilities, and embed a culture where all can access the curriculum and learn effectively.
An ability to be creative and adaptable in teaching is crucial. Experience of teaching across Key Stage 2 is desirable, and a deep knowledge of the core and wider curriculum is essential, including a good understanding of teaching reading, writing and maths.
During the first year, both schools will offer 15 places for children in reception; up to 30 places for a mixed 1/2 class; and up to 30 places for a mixed 3/4 class. The schools will expand annually at an agreed rate with the local authority. There will also be extensive opportunities for candidates to develop their leadership experience through leading across subject areas and other aspects of the school.
Experience of working with children with additional needs, including those with SEMH, is desirable, and candidates will have good knowledge and practical understanding of the SEND code of practice. Pupils within the RSP are an integral part of the school community and will participate in some lessons in mainstream classes. It is essential that the successful candidate champions principles of trauma awareness and relational learning, building strong, trusting relationships with all children to create a safe learning environment.
A full package of ongoing CPD is in place to support our staff team as part of the whole school relational approach. Collaboration is key to our development, and the successful candidate would enjoy close partnerships, working alongside the newly appointed Principals and Assistant Principals, as well as the Executive Principal and other colleagues within our Trust.
