Scartho Gateway Academy RSP Teaching Assistant – Permanent role (32.5 hours per week, term time only – 195 days) in the new Academy opened September 2025. Salary: LGAT 7 – £26,948 full‑time equivalent; actual pay £20,237.95.

About the Academy and RSP

Scartho Gateway Academy serves up to 210 pupils, from Reception to Year 6, and provides a Resource Specialist Provision (RSP) for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The RSP currently supports 6 children with plans to expand to 9 in September 2026, alongside a lead teacher and two existing teaching assistants.

Responsibilities

  • Support the RSP teacher in delivering a broad, tailored curriculum to children with SEMH and other SEND needs.
  • Collaborate with the SENDCO and school staff to plan, monitor and assess student progress.
  • Apply adaptive, personalised teaching strategies that promote confidence and engagement.
  • Maintain a nurturing, trauma‑informed learning environment and build trusting relationships with students.
  • Provide ongoing supervision and participate in professional development as part of the academy’s relational approach.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience as a teaching assistant, ideally in SEND or SEMH settings.
  • Good knowledge and practical understanding of the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Demonstrated commitment to inclusive education and a child‑centred approach.
  • Training in trauma awareness, relational learning or other relevant areas is highly valued.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, creativity and adaptability in supporting diverse learners.

Professional Development

The Academy offers an ongoing CPD package, including regular supervision, to support staff and enhance the relational approach across the school.
