The Lincolnshire Electronic Assistive Technology (EATS) Service supports adults and children with complex physical and/or communication disabilities. Following an assessment, the team recommends and provides the most suitable electronic assistive device to promote independence, communication and improve quality of life.
The Clinical Scientist role within Lincoln EATS combines clinical insight, engineering knowledge and strategic thinking to deliver and develop technology‑based solutions that enhance independence and participation for people with complex needs. In addition to specialist clinical work, this role provides clinical leadership, supports quality improvement, innovation and the development of the service.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments to understand a person's abilities, limitations and goals.
- Recommend, configure and evaluate assistive technology solutions, ensuring they are safe, effective and person-centred.
- Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, clinical technologists and external agencies.
- Provide training and ongoing support to service users, families and carers on the use of assistive technologies.
- Lead or contribute to research, audits and evidence‑based practice to improve service quality and advance the field.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards, safety regulations and clinical governance frameworks.
- Participate in the development of innovative or bespoke technological solutions where standard equipment does not meet user needs.
