We are seeking an experienced paediatric nurse who is a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Band 6 Deputy Sister / Charge Nurse.
Main duties of the job: Our Children’s ward provides compassionate care for Children and Young People from 0 to 16 years of age. Providing care for a mixture of specialties and for a wide range of conditions including High Dependency Care. This Band 6 role will require someone who wants to develop themselves in a very supportive environment. You will need to enjoy leading a team, whilst ensuring the focus is on delivering high quality evidence-based care to the child and family.
You will also have the opportunity to work across the Paediatric services within the trust. You will need to be competent, caring and compassionate, with the proven ability to work individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The successful candidates will need to demonstrate their commitment to continuously developing professionally whilst supporting junior colleagues in an acute clinical environment.

Person specification:
- Qualifications: RSCN/ Child Branch Post registration qualification or course evidence in High Dependency care level 1 and/or 2 relevant to clinical speciality. Mentorship module or equivalent. Evidence of continuing professional development. PILS/ALS trained Leadership course.
- Experience: Expert clinical role model who is committed to improvement of standards and patient care. Uses evidence based practice to support patient care delivery. Experience of managing teams. Evidence of being a reflective practitioner. Understanding of healthcare governance and its application. Demonstration of autonomous practice. Ability to organise and prioritise workload. Experience of caring for children and young people within a Paediatric High dependency or PICU environment. Experience in children’s nursing sufficient to demonstrate strong clinical skills and effective leadership qualities.
