Lincoln City Football Club Academy and Lincoln City Foundation are looking for enthusiastic, skilled football coaches to work on our Elite Development Pathway, working with our girls academy programme which consists of two weekly training sessions with a Saturday matchday in the Junior Premier League. The Elite Development Pathway girls academy aims to support the technical, individual tactical, unit tactical, team tactical, physical, psychological and social development of girls U13-U16 who are perceived to have a high level of potential. The programme aims to support the development of girls through structured and engaging practices, while monitoring the girls to support the recommendation into the English FA at the right time for the child.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Training
    • Plan, deliver and review effective sessions to support the development of tactical understanding as an individual, unit and team in line with the tactical curriculum.
    • Plan in coordination with other squad/girls academy lead coaches and assistant coaches to deliver an effective technical and individual tactical carousel to maximise individual development.
    • Effectively set-up sessions ahead of participant arrival in a way that minimises equipment movement during sessions to keep ball rolling time high.
    • Support the technical, individual tactical, physical, social and psychological development of all participants within the programme.
  • Matchday
    • Plan matchday objectives and squads in line with Individual learning plans and phase of the season (e.g. focus phase, development phase, competitive phase).
    • Work with sports scientists to plan and deliver an effective matchday warm up to prepare the girls physically and mentally to perform at their best.
    • Plan squads to ensure all participants have at least 50% of game time in line with the Junior Premier League rule and support participants throughout the game with individual, unit and team coaching to ensure understanding of roles, responsibilities and situations that occur during the game.
    • Provide a team debrief following the game to summarise the game, highlighting positives and key learning points.
    • Send a match report to head of recruitment & player pathways within 12 hours of full time.
  • General & Administrative
    • Create a safe and inclusive environment to allow all participants to develop.
    • Lead on session administration through taking registers and sharing with the admin team to update databases.
    • Work with the video analyst to guide the preparation of video to support player development through post-match analysis, individual analysis and examples of excellence.
    • Review sessions and matchday, sharing feedback with the head of academy recruitment & player pathways regarding player development.
    • Meet with the head of academy recruitment & player pathways and other staff involved with the squad on a six weekly basis to write and deliver accurate and effective reviews and individual learning plans.
    • Work with the head of academy recruitment & player pathways and the head of coaching to support coaching development.
    • Support the head of academy management team in the mentorship of Interns.
    • Work with the head of academy recruitment & player pathways and the head of coaching to continually develop as a coach.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualities & Qualifications

Essential

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Confident working with children aged 12-16 years old.
  • Good understanding of technical and tactical components of football.
  • UEFA C licence in coaching.
  • FA First Aid qualification.
  • FA Safeguarding qualification.
  • Willingness to learn the academy way and commitment to own development as a coach.
  • Experience of working in an academy, centre of excellence or player development centre.

Desirable

  • Experience of working with children aged 12-16 years old in a sport or education environment.
  • Understanding of learning pedagogy.
  • UEFA B licence in Coaching or working towards.
