We are looking to recruit a Production Engineer to support production and identify opportunities for efficiency gains within products and cells. This role will look to identify non-value-added waste activities within the manufacturing process, and then to work to eliminate the non-essential waste by conducting established lean methodologies to maximise efficiency. Furthermore, the remit of this role is to identify standard working practices to ensure product quality and efficient build.
Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 to 16:30.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Support daily production to achieve utilisation, improving cycle times, throughput, and labour efficiencies while reducing bottlenecks and waste through technical problem-solving.
- Implement equipment and tooling enhancements, including automation, and explore alternative methods to support production.
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust manufacturing processes, establishing standardised work and process documentation to reduce variation.
- Create jigs and fixtures to support ease of manufacture in metal fabrication and assembly build processes.
- Act as the production delegate during the new product design process to ensure design for manufacture.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with production, maintenance, quality, supply chain and CI to support operatives and supervisors with technical guidance. Act as the technical authority for production engineering.
- Analyse data and report on improvements and benefits, presenting technical findings and recommendations.
- Support production management and CI teams in assembly operations, layouts, flow lines, line balancing and capacity modelling.
Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
- Excellent time management skills.
- Excellent people management skills.
- Project management skills essential.
- Excellent product knowledge of commercial catering equipment.
- Able to lead Kaizen events.
- Good analytical skills.
- Ability to conduct time and motion studies to identify and rectify non-essential waste activities.
- ILM level 3 (or equivalent) in management and leadership (Preferred).
- Lean six sigma green belt (Preferred).
