We have an opportunity available for a reliable and hardworking General Cleaner to join our Production team at Lincat. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe and organised environment within the factory, ensuring that all areas meet hygiene and safety standards. This role is essential in contributing to the overall smooth operation of the factory by keeping workspaces clean and well-maintained.

Hours of work: This role is based on 40 hours per week, working Monday to Friday.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Cleaning within the factory and sweeping of the shop floor and gangways.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the factory and housekeeping to a high standard.
  • Remove waste streams from shop floor areas and dispose of them according to company protocols.
  • Recycling of materials.
  • Operation of cardboard bailing machine.
  • Work under minimum supervision and manage their own time effectively.
  • Assist in other general cleaning tasks as needed to support production and operations.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Health and Safety Regulations: Knowledge of local health and safety regulations, including fire safety procedures, emergency exits and how to handle hazardous spills or situations.
  • Cleaning Methods: Knowledge of various cleaning methods for different surfaces (e.g., floors, windows, and work surfaces). This includes mopping, sweeping, and wiping.
  • Cleaning Tools: Familiarity with tools like brooms, mops, vacuum cleaners, pressure washers and scrubbers.
  • Chemical Handling: Understanding how to use cleaning chemicals safely, including knowing which chemicals are suitable for specific tasks (e.g., degreasers, disinfectants, and detergents) and how to mix or dilute them if necessary.
  • Being able to clean large factory areas in an efficient and time-sensitive manner.
  • Know how to prioritise cleaning tasks depending on the areas (e.g., high-traffic zones vs low-traffic zones).
  • Preventative Measures: Awareness of how cleanliness impacts the functionality and longevity of equipment and production efficiency.
