Events Coordinator (Fixed Term Contract, until 31st December 2025) 37 hours per week £24,996 per annum Lysaght Institute, Newport, NP19 0RA The opportunity: Linc are offering the opportunity to join their small, but busy, team at Lysaght as Events Coordinator. Lysaght Institute is one of Newport’s most iconic venues, offering a high quality service in facilitating corporate hospitality and celebration events. Equipped with state of the art audio visual equipment, our facilities include small to large sized 1920s Art Deco style function rooms, original balconies, and beautifully landscaped gardens. A small and busy team, complete with suppliers, to cater for all our events and conferencing requirements. Our venue has grown from strength to strength and is now a renowned Events Centre to Meet, Learn and Celebrate! With a busy calendar in 2025, we are looking to expand our team to supervise and run a variety of events at this iconic venue. This is a hands-on and varied role – no two days will be the same. From liaising with suppliers and customers to setting up weddings, leading the team during events and helping on the bar, this role is perfect for someone who wants to expand their skills and experience in the hospitality sector. We are looking for someone who is a good team player and is keen to get involved in all aspects of events. We are looking for an individual who is excellent with working to deadlines, navigating the day to day needs associated with the world of events and hospitality and is confident in making decisions. You must be able to work to tight deadlines and be able to make decisions and work using your own initiative. You will be responsible to support the operation of our events and hospitality team, and be a strong team player. Most importantly you will have a positive attitude to support your colleagues and guests and the willingness to work in a busy environment. Our events run Monday – Sunday, from early morning meetings to late night wedding parties. This role includes day work though will be primarily evening and weekend work. We offer a flexible rota, which will be discussed at interview. What we need from you: Leadership skills – you will lead the team during events, from domestic assistants to bar staff, ensuring everyone pulls together to get the venue ‘party ready’ for all events. Strong communication skills – you will welcome customers into the venue, serve refreshments, liase with suppliers, respond to queries and answer telephone calls, so strong written and verbal communication skills are vital for this role. We are looking for someone who is welcoming, friendly and approachable. Passion for events – we are looking for someone who can make every event spectacular! It could be Lysaght’s 3rd wedding of the month, but for this couple and their guests, it’stheir first and only wedding, so we are looking for someone who goes above and beyond to provideexcellent customer service and make each event special and unique. Organisation skills – you will work closely with events administrator, who supports with the planning, organisation and lead up to events. It is crucial you know the customers’ requests, requirements and expectations, so you will need to be organised leading up to and during the event.
