At Linamar Light Metals Belfast, we work in partnership with our customers (FORD, STELLANTIS, JAGUAR LAND ROVER and GESTAMP) to develop and manufacture automotive components, specialising in cylinder heads, electric drive housings and structural components.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small, skilled team providing IT support to both production and service departments in our Dunmurry foundry. Key responsibilities will include the following:
- Provide assistance to users regarding hardware and software issues.
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems, networks, and IT equipment.
- Help to maintain IT documentation, including asset registers, user guides, and support records to ensure accurate tracking of IT resources.
- Assist senior IT staff with projects and testing new technologies as needed.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Working towards a degree in an IT-related subject
- Knowledge of programming languages e.g. C# or other languages
- Knowledge of databases
- Knowledge and experience of MS Office products
- At least 2 months work experience from any environment
- Planning and organising skills
- Analytical skills
- Problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Good team working abilities
- Able to build good relationships
- Proactive in suggesting ideas for improvement
While not essential, the following would be beneficial:
- Work experience from an IT-related role
- Ability to provide hardware support
- Experience of Windows XP/Windows 7 operating system
