At Linamar Light Metals Belfast, we work in partnership with our customers (FORD, STELLANTIS, JAGUAR LAND ROVER and GESTAMP) to develop and manufacture automotive components, specialising in cylinder heads, electric drive housings and structural components.

We are now recruiting for our Apprenticeship programme commencing in September 2026!

  • Mechatronic Apprenticeship: Successful candidates will have the opportunity to participate in a 3-year period of training, study and work experience to become qualified Mechatrician Technicians. You will be involved in all aspects of installing, maintaining and improving the performance of our equipment. Successful candidates will enter the programme as apprentices and work towards attaining Engineering (Electrical / Mechatronics) NVQ Levels 2 and 3.
  • Toolmaker Apprenticeship: Successful candidates will have the opportunity to participate in a 3-year period of training, study and work experience to become qualified Toolmakers. You will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of repair and modification work to our high precision foundry tools and dies. Successful candidates will enter the programme as apprentices and work towards attaining Engineering (Tool Making) NVQ Levels 2 and 3.

  • Essential: 6 months work experience from any industry (part time or full time)
  • Four GCSE* passes in the following subjects: Mathematics minimum Grade C, English Language minimum Grade C, Science or a Technology based subject minimum Grade C, Any other subject minimum Grade C

While not essential, the following would be beneficial:

  • 3 months work experience from an engineering / manufacturing environment (full or part time)
  • Evidence of an interest in maintenance / engineering.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with Grade A, B or C* in Math.

*Essential Skills, Key Skills or City & Guilds, at the appropriate level, will also be considered as acceptable equivalents. The selection process may include an interview and an aptitude test.
