The Engineer/Designer - Intermediate contributes to project activities by developing detailed product designs that meet performance, cost, and durability goals. Responsibilities include creating CAD models, conducting engineering analyses, and supporting prototype builds, as well as validating designs through lab and field testing. The role also involves mitigating design risks, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and occasionally travelling to support field testing while ensuring the accuracy and release of technical documentation.
Responsibilities
- Participation as a team member in project activities as assigned.
- Develop detailed product designs to meet objectives of performance, cost, durability, etc.
- Development of CAD models, drawings, and supporting information utilizing company standards and common materials and processes.
- Engineering analysis of designs using hand calculations, FEA software, and other analysis tools.
- Identify, analyze, and mitigate product design risks.
- Prototype build planning and support.
- Product verification and validation through lab and field testing.
- Occasional travel to support product field testing.
- Supporting cross-functional activities (purchasing, manufacturing, quality, publications, product support, etc.).
- Review, approve and release drawings, models and other documentation.
Academic/Educational Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Engineering program or related field.
Required Skills/Experience
- 2-3 years of Agricultural, Construction, Forestry, Mining or other related experience in mechanical design with familiarity of interdependent electronic and hydraulic control systems.
- Passionate about designing innovative, high performing and reliable machinery.
- Focus on continuous improvement and constant evolving technology.
- Experienced in roles that require strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work on a team across functions and cultures.
- Able to work on multiple projects and bring to successful completion in a timely manner.
- Strong understanding of mechanical components, hydraulic systems, and electro-mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with various agricultural production systems.
- Mechanical aptitude, both in hands-on work and design capabilities.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and SolidWorks 3D CAD and COSMOS FEA.
- Exceptional written communication skills in English.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience in manufacturing processes such as fabrication, welding, and assembly (including torch work) is preferred.
- Background in agriculture, forestry, or heavy mobile machinery is a plus.
