About The Role
The Senior Management Accountant will support the Financial Controller in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting, while providing meaningful analysis and insight to support operational and commercial decision‑making. This role will play a key part in strengthening management reporting, improving financial visibility and supporting the development of a more commercially focused finance function.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Management Accounting & Reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs
- Post journals and support the month‑end close process
- Ensure accurate revenue and cost recognition
- Perform variance analysis and provide clear commentary on financial performance
- Support balance sheet reviews and reconciliations
- Financial Analysis & Insight
- Analyse revenue, margins and contract profitability
- Develop meaningful financial reporting and KPIs
- Identify financial trends, risks and opportunities
- Support operational teams in understanding financial performance
- Budgeting & Forecasting
- Support preparation of budgets and forecasts
- Assist in financial modelling and scenario analysis
- Monitor performance against budget and forecast
- Operational Finance Support
- Work closely with operations and commercial teams to understand financial drivers
- Support analysis of billing, contract performance and cost structures
- Provide financial insight to support decision‑making
- Reporting & Data
- Work with BI / reporting analyst to improve financial dashboards and reporting tools
- Support automation and improvement of finance reporting processes
- Help improve data quality and financial visibility across the business
- Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve financial reporting and processes
- Support finance transformation initiatives
- Contribute to development of scalable finance processes as the business grows
- Team Development
- Support the Financial Controller in strengthening financial processes and reporting across the finance function
- Work closely with transaction teams including billing, accounts payable and credit control to ensure financial information is accurate and complete
- Provide guidance and support to direct reports and junior members of the finance team where appropriate
Candidate Profile
- Essential
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Strong management accounting and financial analysis experience
- Excellent Excel skills and attention to detail
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability
- Highly Desirable
- Experience in a service, engineering, facilities management or contracting business
- Experience analysing project, contract or job‑based revenue models
- Exposure to high‑volume billing environments
- Personal Attributes
