ABOUT THE ROLE

The role holder will provide pre- and post-contract commercial management support across a portfolio of Hard Facilities Management contracts and associated project works, supporting the Commercial Director and ensuring robust commercial governance, risk management, and contractual compliance. This position is offered on a 12 Month Fixed Term contract, with the possibility of turning permanent at the end of the contract.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Support day-to-day BAU commercial and contractual matters under the direction of the Commercial Director.
  • Review, negotiate and manage low- to mid-risk contracts, variations, changes, extensions and amendments in line with approved templates, playbooks and risk parameters with support of the Commercial Director.
  • Support the Commercial Director on high-risk or complex negotiations, including preparation of commercial positions, issues logs and negotiation summaries.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date contract registers, key dates, renewal trackers and change control logs.
  • Support the commercial management of private and public sector contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and agreed commercial terms.
  • Identify, manage and report commercial, procurement, financial and operational risks and opportunities.
  • Support jeopardy management, risk mitigation and audit readiness, minimising the risk of service, compliance or financial disruption.
  • Assist in maximising income, controlling costs and improving cash performance across contract portfolios.
  • Provide commercial support and guidance to operational, procurement and account management teams, ensuring clarity of contractual responsibilities, scope and entitlements.
  • Support KPI reporting, performance management and financial mechanisms and weighting reviews, where applicable.
  • Assist with dispute management activities.
  • Ensure appropriate commercial governance and compliance across subcontractor and supply chain arrangements.
  • Ensure all commercial documentation is accurate, auditable and aligned with internal processes and controls.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Proven experience working in a commercial or contractual management role within a commercial environment.
  • Experience reviewing, administering and negotiating contracts and contract variations.
  • Strong understanding of commercial risk, cost control and contractual compliance.
  • Ability to engage confidently with operational teams and external suppliers.
  • Well-organised, detail-focused and comfortable managing multiple workstreams in parallel.
  • Ability to travel within business operational area at short notice.
  • High degree of interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills at all levels of management.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills - written and oral.
  • Strong financial acumen and attention to detail.

DESIRABLE

  • Working knowledge of UK commercial and construction law.
  • Experience within the engineering, hard FM, construction, or facilities management sector.
  • Strong financial awareness and ability to interpret data.
  • Experience supporting or contributing to dispute resolution and claims management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
