As part of our continued growth, Linaker is seeking an experienced Technical Estimator to join our technical estimating team. This is a hands‑on role focused on asset data collection, technical assessment, and producing cost‑effective and accurate quotations for building services. You will assist the Commercial Solutions Director and the estimating team in creating accurate, competitive pricing for building services contracts with a technical background in HVAC and MEP systems, supporting both bids and operations with technical insight and solutions. The role includes asset verification and tagging for cost alignment and requires frequent travel across the UK.
What You Will Be Responsible For
- Review and analyse tender/project specifications, drawings, and documentation to comprehensively understand the scope and requirements of PPM contracts and project works.
- Prepare comprehensive cost models for building services, ensuring alignment with diverse client pricing requirements and tender formats.
- Conduct site visits, as required to support the Bid Team in the pursuit of new tender opportunities, assessing assets on site, any access constraints, and potential risks that may impact cost estimates, including time requirements for asset tagging.
- Assist the Commercial Solutions Director to maintain a comprehensive database of pricing data, historical costs, and industry benchmarks for future estimates and cost analyses.
- Collaborate with bid, commercial, and operational teams to validate pricing assumptions and methodologies for inclusion in tender returns.
- Interpret client specifications, PPM schedules, and asset data to inform estimates.
- Ensure alignment with SFG20 standards, manufacturer recommendations, and client‑specific requirements.
- Support lifecycle costing and risk assessments.
- Liaise with subcontractors and internal procurement teams to obtain specialist subcontractor quotes.
- Collaborate with Bid and Transition Teams to ensure a smooth handover of contracts, obtaining relevant cost data and information, including asset tagging plans to assist with mobilisation of the contract.
- Conduct on‑site asset tagging, validation, and condition surveys across client estates (e.g. HVAC units, pumps, electrical systems).
- Tag assets using QR codes and populate registers to support PPM schedule development and mobilisation.
- Record technical information accurately and consistently using mobile data collection tools or spreadsheets.
- Verify asset types and specifications against SFG20 and manufacturer guidance.
- Ensure all assets are correctly identified and reflected in asset registers and our CAFM system Job Logic.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of SFG20 standards and guidelines and ensure that all relevant information is accurately documented and uploaded to Job Logic for use in planning and scheduling.
- Support pricing reviews, commercial negotiations, and bid governance processes, attending internal and external client meetings as required to support ongoing contracts and site reviews.
- Produce technical quotes based on surveyed assets, scope of works, and contractor inputs.
