ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial Gas Engineer to join our growing maintenance team. The role will involve delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works across a varied portfolio of commercial sites. The successful candidate will be technically competent, commercially aware, and committed to delivering high levels of service, safety, and compliance. This is a mobile role requiring flexibility and strong communication skills to support both internal teams and client stakeholders.

WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR

  • Planned Preventative Maintenance
    • Complete PPM tasks in line with contract schedules and SFG20 standards.
    • Ensure all maintenance activities are delivered proactively and efficiently.
    • Maintain site logbooks and ensure accurate documentation of works completed.
  • Reactive Maintenance & Repairs
    • Diagnosing of faults effectively and carry out timely repairs to commercial gas appliances and associated plant.
    • Minimise downtime through efficient troubleshooting and resolution.
    • Escalate issues to the helpdesk and Contract Manager where appropriate.
  • Quotations & Commercial Awareness
    • Produce detailed and accurate quotations, including:
    • Correct parts identification
    • Accurate labour estimates
    • Clear methodology statements
    • Ensure works are delivered profitably while maintaining quality and client satisfaction.
  • Compliance & Health & Safety
    • Work in strict accordance with company H&S policies and statutory compliance requirements.
    • Ensure all gas works comply with current legislation and industry standards.
    • Maintain a safe working environment and take responsibility for site safety.
  • Communication & Client Liaison
    • Communicate effectively with clients, helpdesk, and management teams.
    • Provide professional, courteous customer service at all times.
    • Build and maintain strong working relationships internally and externally.
  • Asset & Equipment Care
    • Ensure tools, equipment, calibration devices and company assets are maintained and stored correctly.
    • Report any defects or damage promptly.

  • City & Guilds COCN1 – Core Commercial Gas Safety
  • CCN1 – Core Domestic Natural Gas Safety
  • CDGA1 – Non-Domestic Natural Gas & LPG Direct Fired Heating Appliances
  • CODNCO1 – Changeover Domestic to Non-Domestic Core
  • CIGA1 – Non-Domestic Indirect Gas-Fired Heating Appliances
  • CPA1 – Combustion Performance Analysis
  • CENWAT – Domestic Central Heating/Hot Water Boilers
  • ICPN1 – Non-Domestic Pipework & Fittings
  • TPCP1 / TPCP1A – Testing & Purging

Desirable Qualifications

  • CKR1 – Domestic Gas Cooking Appliances
  • CCCN1 – Non-Domestic Catering Appliances
  • HTR1 – Domestic Gas Fires & Wall Heaters
  • CORT1 – Radiant Plaque & Tube Heaters
  • Legionella Awareness & Practical Training
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • PASMA
  • IPAF 3a & 3b

Experience

  • 2–5 years’ experience in commercial gas maintenance.
  • Experience within a mobile FM environment desirable.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability.
