WELCOME TO LINAKER
For over 30 years, Linaker has built a reputation for delivering dependable, high-quality mechanical engineering services across a wide range of client environments. Our strength lies in keeping critical systems operational—supporting organisations with technical precision, responsive maintenance, and long-term reliability. Founded on trust, care, and reliability, we’re more than a service provider—we’re a fully embedded partner in our clients’ operations.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a technically strong and qualified Air Conditioning Biased Engineering Supervisor to lead and support a team of engineers responsible for delivering planned maintenance, reactive repairs, and small works projects across air conditioning systems. You will act as the primary escalation point for technical issues, oversee compliance and internal standards. This is a hybrid supervisory role, typically split between office-based days (focused on compliance, engineer support, and performance oversight) and field-based days (conducting site supervision, audits, including hands-on support as required).
WHAT YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR WITHIN YOUR SPECIFIED AREA
- Lead and supervise a team of engineers delivering PPM, reactive maintenance, and fault diagnosis on commercial split systems, VRV/VRF, AHUs, chillers, and refrigeration units.
- Serve as a technical escalation point, assisting engineers with complex system failures, client issues, and compliance challenges.
- Ensure compliance with F-Gas regulations, refrigerant handling, environmental legislation, H&S legislation, Permit to Work (PTW) procedures, and other statutory requirements.
- Assist with managing the engineering rota, ensuring adequate cover for planned work and reactive call-outs (including standby or out-of-hours duty as required).
- Supervise as required on-site activities, ensuring safe working practices, quality standards, and technical integrity.
- Oversee and deliver small works and upgrades, installations, system replacements, refrigerant tracking, and efficiency improvements.
- Work alongside internal teams to maintain accurate records within the CAFM system, service history, maintenance tasks, compliance checks, and refrigerant usage.
- Deliver toolbox talks, technical coaching, and regulatory updates (F-Gas, safe handling, environmental guidance) to ensure continuous team competence.
- Support multi-skilled engineers with non-AC support tasks when operational needs require.
- Liaise with clients and internal stakeholders to manage expectations, resolve escalations, and ensure satisfaction.
- Support line management with performance monitoring, training needs identification, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- This role will require the person to work as AP for Air Conditioning.
- There will be an element of National travel as and when required.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
- NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration (or equivalent technical qualification).
- Valid F-Gas certification, Category 1 (C&G 2079 or equivalent).
- Time-served/apprenticeship background in air conditioning/HVAC/refrigeration systems.
- City & Guilds 7189 (Refrigeration & Air Conditioning) Level 2 or 3.
- City & Guilds 6090 (Refrigeration, Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Systems).
- Electrical qualification or knowledge.
- Experience working under the SFG20 framework for maintenance schedules.
- Health & Safety qualifications e.g. IOSH, or equivalent.
- Experience with larger complex sites, or critical plant systems (e.g. chillers, large AHUs).
THE PACKAGE
- 25 Days annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Buy and sell holiday to suit your schedule.
- One paid volunteering day per year, empowering you to support causes that matter to you.
- Company Car for regional site travel.
- Access to our Employee assistant programme for wellbeing support.
- Auto enrolment in the company pension scheme.
