POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the AVP, Sustainability Manager, this role will span a broad range of responsibilities, including the maintenance and development of RenaissanceRe’s sustainability disclosures and the co-ordination and communication of existing initiatives. Activities will include carbon accounting, implementation support for global sustainability projects and the delivery of new initiatives, accreditations, and memberships. Collaborating with various stakeholders across the Company, the sustainability analyst role provides the opportunity for a driven individual to directly contribute to the execution of RenaissanceRe’s sustainability strategy. This is a fast-paced business environment, demanding a strong work ethic and a results-oriented approach.

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Compile, validate, and analyse internal data for carbon accounting, while managing RenaissanceRe's environmental management system for effective reporting and analysis.
  • Support the preparation of annual sustainability reports and disclosures by consolidating data, drafting sections, and coordinating inputs from global teams.
  • Assist in responding to internal and external sustainability queries and questionnaires.
  • Draft materials for internal and external stakeholder updates.
  • Complete ad hoc public sector and sustainability-related assignments as needed.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Manage ESG Rater relationships including communication, data input and progress reporting.
  • Collaborate internally to develop new sustainability-related policies and procedures.

Strategy & Integration

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of RenaissanceRe’s sustainability initiatives (e.g., waste reduction, energy efficiency, employee engagement programmes) and identify areas for improvement, recommending actions accordingly.
  • Conduct sophisticated research on sustainability standards and market trends, including evaluating RenaissanceRe’s performance against industry benchmarks.
  • Collaborate with departments to integrate new sustainable practices.
  • Consider new sustainability initiatives, accreditations, and memberships that align with RenaissanceRe’s sustainability strategy.

Project Management

  • Provide logistical and administrative support to the Global CSR Office.
  • Support activities of the Global Green Group, managing and monitoring data inputs and requests.

Candidate Qualifications, Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent experience, with evidence of project work or academic research related to sustainability topics and/or experience in a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical skills and proven ability to think critically.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse numerical datasets and present quantitative findings to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships across all levels within the organisation, across multiple offices.
  • Strong time-management skills and proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills with excellent attention to detail and a clear, accurate, concise reporting style of both verbal and written communications.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, including proven experience consolidating data into a simplified format in PowerPoint.
  • Self-motivated, team player able to act on own initiative to originate, develop and deliver.
  • Ability to demonstrate discretion and integrity in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Keen interest in sustainability within the Financial Services sector.

Desirable

  • Experience managing external sustainability relationships, such as rating agencies and accreditations.
  • Experience working within financial services, ideally within the (re)insurance industry.
  • Familiarity with climate resilience or risks.
  • Knowledge of a range of sustainability issues, policies and reporting frameworks.
  • Knowledge of carbon accounting standards and practices.
